The Council of Families for Children is a 501C3 that supports families dealing with mental health issues by offering holistic services that include handwriting therapy and certifying coaches that are trained in special needs and empathy building.
While still managing her investigative company, Deborah was the Director of Educational Development for the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) in Texas for over four years. This allowed her to publish books, curriculum and train and teach over 10,000 professionals and family members, in the mental health field, focused on the needs of the children, and their families.
Deborah is a contributing writer to Chicken Soup of the Soul: Children with Special Needs. She has also written several books that explain about different mental illnesses and how they affect the children, and their families.
Deborah and her family participated in the making of the documentary "A Reason to Live" about teenage depression and suicide. This documentary won many awards, including the 2013 Lone Star Emmy Award.
